Teacher to say words and students help to spell on the board -
fly, city, imply, story, hungry
You are going to work in pairs to create a representation of the Land of Language story. The focus of this task is to display in our classroom as a reminder of this Rule.
You may:
- make a poster
- make a presentation on Canva
- Make a book
- Make a comic
Your representation of the story must include:
- All story elements that explain the Rule (you can use the text from the story in the Google Docs attached).
- A list of words ending in y as an example. Challenge yourself to find Tier 2 words!
Students to share their work.
Revisit Rule 6 - i being banished from the end of words.
Students need whiteboard and textas.
Teacher to read a short story and students write down any words they hear that end in the i sound and should be a y.
Olivia felt so happy. The sky was clear and sunny.
“There’s a surprise!” the teacher whispered quickly.
The students ran to the library, feeling giddy. Inside, there were cookies—freshly warm and buttery.
Students continue to work on their projects!
