Week 1

1. Listen to the song ‘Kungfu Panda’ three times https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27M4ZOHcHiE 

a. 1st time: try to understand what the song is about

b. 2nd time: focus on the following words in the song

• panda

  • 熊(xióng) 猫(māo)

• baby panda

  • 熊(xióng) 猫(māo) 宝(bǎo) 宝(bǎo)

• bamboo

  • 竹(zhú) 子(zi)

c. 3rd time or more: sing along to the song

2. Watch the video ‘Panda Facts for Kids’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6YeB3mRFyk 

3. Share with your parent at least three facts about the panda

Week 2 &3

1.    Sing the warming-up song: Basic Chinese Greetings

2.    Listen and sing along: Directions in Chinese 上(shàng) 下(xià) 左(zuǒ) 右(yòu) 歌(gē)

3.    Practise saying the following words:

上(shàng)（up） 下(xià)(down)  

  左(zuǒ)(left)     右(yòu)(right)  

  前(qián)(front)  后(hòu) (back) 

  中(zhōng)(middle)

4.    Complete the following activities:

a.    Play the ‘Simon Says’ game with your family: You say the words of directions in Chinese and your family act accordingly 

b.   Choose one worksheet to complete each week.

*Helpful tips:

 (1) Write down the words  上(shàng)（up),下(xià)(down), 左(zuǒ)(left) ,右(yòu)(right) on the top of your worksheet and refer to the words constantly during your work

 (2) Draw signs of directions next to the words in Mandarin (for example, 右--> ) before starting your work

Week 4

1. Watch the following video clips about the stories of Chinese characters and read the words aloud while watching

Week 5

1. Watch the video to review the words learnt in the past weeks and learn to say and write the three new words: 

 人(rén) 口(kǒu)  火(huǒ)

2. Go to ‘www.quizizz.com/join’ and enter the code 627389; Type your first name and class, then complete the quiz about basic Chinese characters

Week 7

1. Listen to the Colour Song in Week 6 and sing the words of colours in the song

2. Read the vocabulary of colours

3. Play a Colour game

4. Listen to the story below and pay attention to the structure:

这(zhè)是(shì)什(shén)么(me)颜(yán)色(sè)？ What colour is it?

这(zhè)是(shì)红(hóng)色(sè)。（It’s red.）

5. For Yr 1 students:

Print out the vocabulary of colours or write down the words on sticky notes.

Use them to label some of the things in your house so that the colour matches the word. 

Practise asking about the colour in Chinese with your family member:

这(zhè)是(shì)什(shén)么(me)颜(yán)色(sè)？

这(zhè)是(shì) __________。
