Go through ough reading slideshow

Mini Lesson:

Introduce the 'ough' phonogram and practise the six sounds.

Write a selection of ‘ough’ words on the board. Students read them. Mark which 'ough' sound by using fingers to count. 

Differentiated Independent Practise:

Read Phonics comprehension story as a class. Then, students to complete task either independently or as a class. 

If too tricky for year 1's, they can complete 'cut and stick'.

Target Group: 

Teachers may wish to work with a support group at this stage to support spelling sounds.

Reflection:

Children to add ough words to class anchor chart. 

Warm-Up/Hook:

Run through 10 focus phonograms of choice. Students have a go at writing these on mini white boards.
