Ingredients
2 cups Oats (Rolled or instant)
1 can of fruit (15 oz) OR 2 cups frozen fruit
4 cups water
Optional toppings: raisins, banana, fresh fruit, granola, nuts, hemp hearts, syrup, chocolate chips, brown sugar
Instructions
Chop up canned fruit into bite sized pieces
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot
Reduce heat to low and add in oats. Stir until oats are tender and water is absorbed.
Stir in canned or frozen fruit. Stir until fruit is thawed (if frozen).
Serve with preferred toppings!
Notes
Can also be cooked in the microwave: add oats and water together, microwave in 30 second increments and stir between each increment. Repeat until tender and water is absorbed.
Water to oat ratio can depend on the type of oats. You can check the package before starting or google search the ratio if you know the type of oats.
If using canned fruit, you can add in some of the liquid for extra flavour and sweetness.
you can add a splash of milk to the cooked oatmeal to alter the texture
Common canned fruits are peaches, pineapples, fruit cocktail & mandarine oranges
