Ms. Hunter
7th grade English Language Arts
Which talent would you most like to have? As most of you witnessed at the teacher-student games last semester, I could use a little more talent in athletics. I hate to admit it, but I’ve never been great at sports and am not coordinated at all. I would love to be more talented in sports!
Which living person do you most admire? This is hard to answer. For me, I think it’s a lot of people I’ve never met that I admire most. There are people all over the world persisting through extreme hardship and fighting for the rights of others. I admire activists who tirelessly fight for human rights. I admire people who have nothing, who always find a way to give to others. I admire those who do the right thing even when it’s hard. I hope that I can be more like those people. More specifically, one person I highly admire is Ms. Ortega. She works so hard and is an expert at what she does, yet she still has time to help out her coworkers and students. It has been an honor to be able to work with her and learn from her the past few years.
What is your most marked characteristic? Most people say that I’m nice. My students might disagree!
What is your favorite occupation? This should be a no-brainer! My favorite occupation is obviously teaching! Teachers do such important work and we are the most hard-working people I know. No matter how stressed we are, we always find a way to make the best of our situations and lift each other up.
What is the quality you most like in a person? Kindness is a quality that I respect in a person. I think people need to be kind and empathetic towards other people to be human beings in this crazy world. However, I have come to appreciate honesty as an important quality as well. It’s important to be honest to yourself and to others.
What is it that you most dislike? The quality I most dislike is closed-mindedness. I don’t appreciate it when people think they know everything and don’t have an open-mind that allows them to consider others or grow.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? I say “like” WAY too much when I’m talking. I’m trying to work on that!
Where would you most like to live? Honestly, I love living in Atlanta. We are close to so much nature and have all the perks of city life. Once I travel more, I might have a different answer to this question.
What is your most treasured possession? One of my treasured possessions is my grandmother’s old cookbook. It was passed down to me when she died a few years ago and I love to look in it and see her handwriting everywhere. I miss her very much.
Who are your favorite writers? I love Toni Morrison. She is one of the most incredible writers in our modern world.
Who is your hero of fiction?
As my students know, I love watching anime. The characters in most anime shows are so determined and hard-working and will do whatever it takes to protect those around them. I admire their grit and perseverance.
What is your motto?
This one is from T.I.- “Success is when preparation meets opportunity.” To be successful, you need to have opportunity, but you also need to be prepared when opportunities present themselves. This is something I want to impart to my students and also implement in my life.
