Since 1974, people have enjoyed the classic skittle flavors of strawberry, orange, lemon, grape and lime. But in 2013, the Mars Wrigley corporation made the controversial decision to replace the lime skittle with a green apple skittle.
After producing a best-selling product for ages, Wrigley decided to switch things up to increase excitement for their candy. They tested new green apple skittle with focus groups and got a positive response. But, skittle fans didn’t exactly agree with the change. These past eight years, a petition by skittles fans to bring back the lime skittles has gotten over 6,700 signatures. Wrigley has finally listened to the angered candy eaters.
Recently this year, Wrigley announced that the lime skittle would be back, indefinitely. Skittle fans around the world anxiously waited for October to come, to taste the skittle packet “the way it should be ''. Though there isn’t a definite date for when the candy is coming to Atlanta, so make sure to look out for Skittles (with lime) in your Halloween candy.
