Georgia schools and Coronavirus have an ongoing battle, specifically with in-person learning. School districts, such as LAMAR county, have closed schools for two weeks, due to COVID-19 outbreaks. Classes from LAMAR county are said to be resumed on September seventh.
Due to the lack of staff, unavailability to fill school bus routes, and kitchen, LAMAR county was forced to close schools as a result. As of now, all students are learning with virtual learning till September seventh, and have a four-day virtual school that’ll last till October seventh.
Other districts have been forced to shut down to the surge in Covid cases. Some of them have not made it a requirement to wear masks, leading to getting more COVID-19 positives and shutting down schools for cleaning. Four districts have closed down, such as Clayton county. Each one had to stop because of the rise in COVID-19.
However, some of the larger districts are determined to keep in-person learning by using quarantine zoom methods, both for students and teachers. But, with technology issues and sky-high positive cases, these larger districts may have to close down for cleaning.
David T. Howard Middle has not yet had these problems. We’ve gotten a few positives (as of last week's COVID-19 test we had four positives - This information was given by seventh-grade math teacher, Ms. Helton.) and everyone who was around them is forced to quarantine and show up with a negative test score before coming back to school. If we keep up with COVID-19 measures like wearing masks (except for lunch) and staying six feet apart when possible, we are sure to be able to keep doing in-person learning, with a few zoom quarantine students.
