Your parents might have collected baseball cards when they were kids and you might’ve too! In this article I’ll be covering the value of select players, the value of their cards, and the progression of their value over a time period. Of course, when you collect these cards you always look for a football legends’ rookie card or your favorite player. From my research on websites with people that buy and sell baseball cards, the oldest ones and signed cards are always on their top favorites. Since I don’t know much about these cards or the players on them, we’ll be learning together!

People and companies started making these cards around the 1860s, they started to become popular around 1900 and tobacco companies started putting cards in with cigarettes to boost sales. The value of these cards often varies, even if they’re the same card. The price usually varies depending on the condition and if it has a signature.

One of these cards can be sold at a near-record of 2.88 million dollars! Mickey Mantle is one of the best players of all time, he played for the Yankees. He was a first baseman and a center fielder and was nicknamed the Commerce Comet. Mantle played from 1951-1968 and was finally included in the hall of fame in 1971.
1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth
One of these cards was sold in an auction in 2009 at about $152,750. You may have heard of Babe Ruth, he was considered one of the greatest players of all time and is even in the Hall of Fame. In his 22 seasons of playing, he hit a whopping 714 home runs and played in 10 World Series.
1947 Bond Bread Jackie Robinson Rookie Brooklyn Dodgers
According to vintagecardprices.com, this card can be around 1,600 U.S. dollars. Jackie Robinson was the first African-American player in the MLB, he paved the way for all people. He was primarily a shortstop.
