COVID Cases and Vaccination rates Nationwide
Currently, the United States has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world. Only 53% of the United States’ population has been vaccinated against COVID-19. In the U.S., the average death toll is more than 6,000 people daily. With only half of the U.S. population vaccinated, thousands are still contracting the virus.
There have been over 700,000 deaths in the U.S., and one of those was Rob Roberts, who contracted the virus in April of 2020. Roberts was only 45. His son, Gavin Roberts, decided that for his 12th birthday, all he wanted was to be vaccinated.
Research shows that vaccination is necessary for getting out of this pandemic, but some people don’t think so. Greg Gianfore, the governor of Montana, has been against getting vaccinated for months. On May 7th, he passed the Montana House Bill 702. This law prohibits employers from requiring their employees to receive certain types of vaccines or to possess an immunity passport. Very recently, President Biden’s vaccine mandate for contractors has been blocked nationwide.
