Many people give up drawing because they think that they aren’t good at it. To be honest it’s pretty sad. First off, when people say that they’re bad, they are not satisfied with the outcome of their art. They have these ideas of what their art should look like. They are comparing their art to others like DrawingWiffWaffles who have been drawing for a long time, though they have just started. Second off, that’s her art style, you can’t just copy it. If you want to improve first you should find your OWN art style. This is the hardest step and could take anywhere from a few hours to a few months. It took me 3 weeks. Also i’m writing this from personal experience so it might not work for everyone. My suggestion is don’t use tutorials, use criticism. In a drawing tutorial the experienced person is telling you how to draw, and even still you might not be able to follow it because it’s too hard (trust me I’ve seen those tutorials before). With criticism, someone is showing you what you did wrong and gives you advice to improve. (*Note criticism only helps if the person is actually giving you helpful advice, not if they just think that your drawings are bad. Though if they don’t give you advice sometimes it’s a sign that you’re actually really good and they’re jealous.). The easiest way without criticism is to get a sketchbook. Once you get one just start drawing. Over time as you look back, you will realise that you have developed your art style without even knowing. Also you will have improved greatly. One thing I regret doing at the start is not writing dates, but it doesn’t matter. I'm almost done with that one anyways. Oh yeah also be prepared to go through at least 3 per year (depending on how much you draw). After you’ve found your style, improve. At the improvement stage this is where you can look at other people’s art you like and study it. If you want, now you can do tutorials. You should extend what you draw. You should try to draw for at least an hour a day and that’s about all of the advice I have. Good luck and have fun.
