Advances in Science and Medical technology now mean that many injuries and illnesses that used to be fatal can now be survived. Below are some examples of advances in technology that have been used to treat humans.

1846, the artificial leg is invented.

1905, the first cornea transplant.

1922, the first medical use of insulin to treat diabetes.

1928, the first iron lung performs artificial breathing.

1943, development of dialysis as an artificial kidney.

1958, the first internal pacemaker.

1967, the first heart transplant performed.

2006, first artificially lab-grown organ.

2014, first prosthetic hand made with 3D printing technology.
