10. Primary and Secondary Pollutants

What are the primary air pollutants and what happens to them in the atmosphere?

Primary sources of pollution

Secondary sources of pollution

Research the main air pollutants, when you have found them post them with your group name to the relevant Padlet site below. Remember to add the two main causes of each gas in your post

Many primary pollutants go on to react with other substances in the air to form secondary pollutants. Sticking with the primary pollutant you were working on earlier, draw a simple diagram (like the one above) that shows what your primary pollutant becomes. Then draw a second simple diagram to show an effect of this pollutant.

When you have been allocated a type of air pollution you should create a google side about that type of pollution.

Your slide should:

> Have a relevant image as the background

> State the name of the gas as a header

> Have a text box that explains the sources of the gas

> A text box that explains the consequences of this gas when it is in the air.

Add your slide to the appropriate presentation

Atmospheric pollution

Can you...

> state two primary pollutants including their sources.

> explain how a primary pollutant becomes a secondary pollutant.

> describe an effect of a secondary pollutant on the environment.
