Phases of the Moon

Demonstration: watch the demonstration of why the moon has different phases during a lunar month.

Activity: In your small group, follow the instructions to construct the "Moon phase wheel spinner", you will need this later.

Activity: Using the "Read and Apply" format, carefully read the passage that recaps the explanation for the phases of the moon and highlight any key words. Cut, stick and label the different moon phases in order and the complete the summary box.

Activity: Complete the diagrams on the "Moon phases cootie catcher" and then fold to use.

Activity: use the Bitesize webpage "phases of the moon", the "Moon phase wheel spinner" and the completed "Read and Apply" to help you answer the questions on the worksheet "Phases of the moon". You may need to use Google to help you answer some of the questions.

Eclipses

On the night of the 27th of September there was a lunar eclipse, watch the video and see if you can explain what is happening.
