Ryan Anderson

Ryan Anderson, a 2013 DeWitt graduate, earned a total of four varsity letters in football and basketball. As one of the top receivers in program history, he helped the Panthers win two Capital Area Activities Conference titles, along with District and Regional Championships in 2012. Anderson was named All-League and All-Area in both of his varsity seasons.  As a senior, he was named to the Lansing State Journal (LSJ) “Dream Team” as well as First-Team All-State.  He holds the school record for most receptions in a season (80) and his 101 career receptions place him third all-time.  On special teams, he holds the best career punt average (39.5 yards) and most punting yards in a career (2,996).  On the hardwood, Anderson amassed over 800 career points in just two varsity seasons, averaging 16.9 points per game as a junior and 21.1 points as a senior. He was All-League and All-Area both years, with LSJ “Dream Team” and Honorable Mention All-State honors as a senior.  DeWitt’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2013 earned a scholarship to play football at Saginaw Valley State University before transferring to Olivet College, where he helped the Comets capture a pair of conference titles. Anderson earned All-American honors and set a NCAA Division III record by averaging 46.2 yards per punt.  He also earned Academic All-American status while helping Olivet reach the Division III playoffs for only the second time in school history.  As a graduate transfer at Rutgers University, Anderson set a single-season school record with a 44.4 yard average that garnered First-Team All-Big Ten honors. The Big Ten Punter of the Year and Ray Guy Award candidate was the first Scarlet Knight to earn First-Team All-Conference honors by the coaches and the media since Rutgers joined the Big Ten.  After graduating from Rutgers, Anderson participated in over 25 workouts with 12 different NFL teams. He played for the Birmingham Iron in the AAF (Alliance of America Football) before the league disbanded in 2018. He was invited to mini-camp with the New England Patriots in 2018, and then signed contracts with the New York Giants in 2019 and the Chicago Bears in 2023.
