Sue Dabakey

The Board of Directors may convey honorary membership to those individuals who, by virtue of their time, resources and dedication, have significantly supported, enhanced and advanced the athletic program(s) of DeWitt High School.

Sue Dabakey served as secretary of athletics at DeWitt for 18 years before retiring in the summer of 2014.  During that time, she helped to guide DeWitt through a transition period that included steadily increasing student enrollment, moving into a new high school, adding several new varsity sports, and overcoming the untimely death of athletic director Jim Lutzke.  Teamed with athletic director Teri Reyburn for her last 15 years, the two forged a partnership that is unmatched.  In addition to juggling multiple tasks behind the scenes, Dabakey also coordinated dozens of internal accounts at the high school, including all clubs, many fundraisers, prom and post-prom events, and individual graduating class accounts.  The workload as athletic secretary only increased during her tenure, considering the success of DeWitt’s many athletic programs.
