Two years after taking home the Division 3 State Championship, the 2007 girls golf team dominated the links with a lineup blessed with depth.  Led by junior Liz Nagel, the state’s reigning individual medalist, the team took first place in four of their five tournaments.  DeWitt dominated the Gold Division of the Capital Area Activities Conference, winning their fourth straight undefeated title.  At the league meet, the girls shot a 327 (137 strokes ahead of their closest competition) and set a course record at Centennial Acres, while finishing with the top four individual scores.  The Panthers cruised to the regional title with an impressive 345 as a team, knocking off second place East Lansing by 14 strokes.  Nagel took medalist honors with a 77, while Rachel Crowley finished third with an 83.  On the first day of the Division 2 state finals at Forest Akers West in East Lansing, the #1 ranked Panthers shot a team score of 361, good enough for a five-shot lead.  On day two, the Panthers continued to play through wind and rain bringing home the title with a 369 for a 730 overall team score and a ten-stroke victory over Birmingham Seaholm.  Nagel won her second individual state championship, finishing with a two-day score of 153.  The Panthers brought home additional awards, including Nagel being named to the Division 2 All-State Super Team as well as the Lansing State Journal (LSJ) Player of the Year.  Dena Droste earned Division 2 All-State Honorable Mention, and she was joined by Crowley and Andrea Duguay on the LSJ Division 2 All-Area First Team.  Steve Crowley was named LSJ Coach of the Year, and the team earned Academic All-State with an overall 3.58 GPA.
