Casey Laughlin

Casey Laughlin, a 1996 DeWitt graduate and Male Athlete of the Year, was a three-sport standout for the Panthers, earning a total of nine varsity letters in football, basketball, and track. He led the Panthers to back-to-back Ingham County League Championships in both football and basketball. On the football field, he was selected as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year by the Lansing State Journal as a junior, as well as Honorable Mention All-State by the Associated Press. Laughlin still holds the school record for most career sacks. As a senior, he was chosen for the Lansing State Journal “Dream Team” and took home unanimous First-Team All-League honors for the second straight year as both tight end and defensive end. During his three varsity basketball seasons, DeWitt won three straight Class B District Championships. His powerful post game and inspirational leadership helped guide the Panthers to a 51-3 record and consecutive Class B Final Fours in 1994-1995 and 1995-1996. Laughlin was named First-Team All-League and Class B All-Area his junior year as the Panthers won 26 straight games before an overtime loss in theClass B state semi-finals. As a senior, he was named First-Team All-League and chosen as a member of the Lansing State Journal “Dream Team.” DeWitt finished with an amazing 25-2 record, with both losses coming to #1-ranked Detroit Country Day. He is currently second on DeWitt's all-time scoring list with 1,151 career points. In the spring, he lettered all four years in track and field, mainly in the discus and shot put. Laughlin received a scholarship to play football at Central Michigan University.
