Jim Sinadinos

Jim Sinadinos, a 1984 DeWitt graduate, was a two-sport letter winner in wrestling and cross country. One of only a few Panther wrestlers to qualify for the state meet in each of his four years of high school, he was known for his hard work and attention to detail. In his only season running cross country, Sinadinos helped the Panthers to a District Championship and a fourth place finish in the regional tournament. His real passion, however, was on the wrestling mat. Competing at 112 pounds, Sinadinos placed third in the regional tournament as a freshman and was the Class C State Runner-up as a sophomore. Wrestling at 119 pounds as a junior, he placed fifth in the state. As a senior, Sinadinos won the Class C State Championship at 126 pounds. He finished his exemplary high school wrestling career with an astounding 147-15-1 record, which was a school record for wins at the time of his graduation. He was also a three-time league champion, three-time All-Area selection, four-time state qualifier, and three-time All-State honoree. Sinadinos continued his wrestling career on scholarship at Michigan State University for two years. After a coaching change, he transferred to Arizona State University where he placed third in the PAC-10 as a junior at 150 pounds. That same year, his Sun Devils team won the 1988 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) National Championship.
