Dan VanDreumel

Dan VanDreumel, a 2008 DeWitt graduate, earned ten varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball on his way to being selected the 2008 Male Athlete of the Year.  As a deceptively quick and hard-nosed quarterback, he led DeWitt to two undefeated league championships and a 26-7 cumulative record over his three varsity seasons.  He set four individual game records, seven individual season records, and six individual career records in a football program known for its prolific offensive statistics.  At the time of his induction, he still holds all but three of those records.  Most notable are his career marks of 373 passes completed for 5,052 passing yards, 69 career touchdown passes, 94 touchdowns in a career (passing and rushing combined), and 7,447 yards in total offense.  As a senior, he set a Michigan High School Athletic Association record by throwing 38 touchdown passes in 11 games, while throwing only three interceptions.  He was selected as the Lansing State Journal “Offensive Player of the Year” and earned a spot on the Associated Press “Dream Team” and the Detroit Free Press “Dream Team.”  The Associated Press named him Division 3/4 “Player of the Year,” and he was honored as the top quarterback in the state regardless of division at the “Great Eight” awards banquet.  The three-year starting point guard for the Panther basketball team led DeWitt to a Class B District Championship as a junior.  As a senior, he earned All-League honors while guiding the Panthers to a 19-3 finish, a #8 ranking in Class B, and the CAAC-Gold League Championship.  VanDreumel led the baseball program to a 91-52 record over his four varsity seasons, including the CAAC Championship and a district title.  The two-time All-League honoree hit the walk-off line drive single in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure DeWitt’s first-ever Capital Diamond Classic Championship in 2008.
