Tim Miller

Tim Miller, a 1985 DeWitt graduate, earned eight varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball.  Although he was a gifted athlete, what set him apart from others was his leadership on the field and in the classroom.  He possessed an uncommon level of maturity and mental toughness that inspired his teammates.  Miller carried a 3.98 GPA, earning the distinction of class Valedictorian.  As a sophomore, he was a member of the 1982 Capital Circuit football league championship team that qualified for the state playoffs.  In his junior and senior seasons as a defensive back and quarterback, Miller earned All-League, All-Area, and Academic All-League.  In basketball, Miller earned two varsity letters, served as team captain his senior year, and set the single-game scoring record of 45 points, which still stands today.  This record is an outstanding accomplishment considering that the three-point line had not been introduced to high school basketball yet.  He earned All-League, All-Area, and Honorable Mention All-State honors.  Miller experienced the ultimate team success as a sophomore when his 1983 baseball team captured the Class C State Championship.  He went on to set many DeWitt baseball records including 21 career wins, three no-hitters, and a school record earned run average (ERA) of 1.26.  He was awarded All-League, All-Area, and Honorable Mention All-State honors as a pitcher.  His dedication and leadership as a three-sport athlete helped set a high standard of excellence and tradition as a member of the football, basketball, and baseball programs.  Upon graduation, Miller was named DeWitt’s Male Athlete of the Year in 1985.
