2005 Girls Golf

From its inception in 2000, the girls golf program thrived under the guidance of Coach Steve Crowley with state finals finishes of ninth in 2002, fifth in 2003 and third in 2004.  The 2005 team finished Capital Area Activities Conference play undefeated, crushing opponents in dual matches by nine strokes or more.  At the league tournament, DeWitt ran away with a nineteen-stroke victory over its closest competition.  At the regionals, Stephany Fleet took medalist honors with a 75 while Trisha McKim finished second with an 82.  The Panthers won the Regional Championship with a 373 score and a twenty-three shot victory over Flint Powers.  On the first day of the Division 3 state finals at Forest Akers in East Lansing, the Panthers shot a team score of 352, trailing the leader by one stroke.  On day two, DeWitt shot a 349 for a 701 overall team score and a nine-stroke victory over Grosse Ile.  The girls captured the program’s first Division 3 State Championship with Fleet and McKim both placing in the top ten individually.  The Panthers garnered additional awards, including Fleet being named to the Division 3 All-State Super Team, McKim earning Division 3 All-State honors, Julie Hatch and Emily Clisch earning All-State Honorable Mention, Crowley being named Division 3 Coach of the Year, and the team earning Academic All-State with an overall 3.61 GPA.

The 2005 Girls Golf State Champions included the following members: Emily Clisch, Colleen DeVoe, Stephany Fleet, Julie Hatch, Trisha McKim and Head Coach Steve Crowley.
