The Board of Directors may convey honorary membership to those individuals who, by virtue of their time, resources and dedication, have significantly supported, enhanced and advanced the athletic program(s) of DeWitt High School.
Mary Sontich and Sue Taber displayed unwavering support and dedication to DeWitt athletics, working side-by-side from 1987-2001 as ticket takers. Throughout the 1990s, the first individuals anyone would see entering an athletic contest were Sontich and Taber. During their combined 36 years of service, they served under multiple athletic directors, collecting tickets for high school regular season and tournament games as well as numerous middle school events. Considered “Ambassadors of DeWitt,” they greeted each spectator with a big smile and warm welcome. They provided a positive first impression for guests arriving from other school districts, helping to make a difference in setting the tone at the gate for a conflict-free environment. Both Sontich and Taber built relationships with DeWitt student-athletes working in the lunchroom at the elementary level and later in the high school where they created a bulletin board in the cafeteria with newspaper clippings highlighting team and individual accomplishments.
