Scott Simon

Scott Simon, a 1993 DeWitt graduate, was a three-sport athlete for the Panthers, lettering in football, basketball and baseball. In addition to seven All-League honors, Simon was five-time All-State honoree in football and baseball. As a senior, he helped lead the varsity baseball team to the Class B State Championship in 1993 with a 4-3 win over Carleton Airport, pitching 10 scoreless innings before getting the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 11th inning. Simon was named DeWitt's Male Athlete of the Year in 1993 and graduated fifth in his class. He served as an exemplary role model for younger student-athletes, as he was selected one of 10 State Scholar Athletes by the Detroit News that same year. Simon holds two school records for pitching shut-outs in a season with 3 and pitching victories in a season with 11. Simon continued his baseball career at Dartmouth College, where he finished among school leaders in career wins and innings pitched. He also received the James Henry Cooke Award, which is given to the Dartmouth athlete who demonstrates outstanding leadership and dedication to a team. He was also selected as team captain during his senior season and was Academic All-Ivy League in 1996 and 1997.
