Teri Reyburn

As athletic director for 19 years, the longest tenure at that position in school history, Teri Reyburn led DeWitt High School athletics through an era of unprecedented excellence. After assisting previous athletic director Jim Lutzke for six years, she began her own leadership in 1999. As the leader of one of the Lansing area’s most successful high school athletic programs, Reyburn oversaw her Panther teams win five of the school’s 14 state championships, earn 12 runner-up trophies from seven different programs and appear in an additional 20 semi-finals. Reyburn advocated for the addition of seven varsity and four sub-varsity sports and was integral in several facility improvements. She played an instrumental role in the creation and growth of the Capital Area Activities Conference established in 2003 and was at the helm when DeWitt transitioned to a Class A school in the fall of 2011. She was also a leading voice in the establishment of the DeWitt High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008, having served as a Trustee since its inception. Reyburn worked closely with the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) hosting more than 100 tournament events in just about every sport, as well as participating on a variety of committees. She was named the Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Athletic Director of the Year in 2006. As one of the state’s biggest advocates for female student-athletes and female administrators, Reyburn received the MHSAA’s 27th Women in Sports Leadership Award in 2014, a yearly award presented by the Representative Council, who considers the achievements of women coaches, officials and athletic administrators affiliated with the MHSAA who show exemplary leadership capabilities and positive contributions to athletics.
