Kelly Robinson, a 1980 DeWitt graduate, was a three-sport standout for the Panthers, lettering in basketball, volleyball and track. Robinson helped lead the Panthers to the Class C State Championship in girls basketball in 1977, scoring 21 points and hauling down 15 rebounds in the team's 51-36 championship victory over Saginaw Carrollton. The win capped a 25-2 season, and Robinson was chosen to the Class C All-Tournament team and named the tournament's MVP. The following season, she led DeWitt back to the Class C semi-finals. Her tireless work ethic and intelligence helped her to out-think and out-work her opponents. She remains the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,165 career points, and she holds the school record for most points scored in a single game with 43. Robinson graduated as her class valedictorian with a 4.0 grade point average. The ultimate student-athlete, she was also named DeWitt's Female Athlete of the Year in 1980. Robinson continued her basketball career at Ohio State University where she helped the Buckeyes win three Big Ten championships. She was also voted the team's captain in both 1983 and 1984. She excelled most during her senior season when she was selected to the All-Big Ten team and named Academic All-American. At the conclusion of that year, she was named a National Honor Medal recipient, which is an award that is given each year to the top male and female athlete of all sports at Ohio State University for outstanding achievement in sports and academics.
