Jamal Mubarakeh

Jamal Mubarakeh took the helm in both the DeWitt boys and girls soccer programs during the 1996-1997 school year, eventually compiling 701 career victories over the next 25 years. Over the course of 19 years leading the boys program, the Panthers’ overall record was 289-103-31 with 14 league championships, five district titles and one regional championship in 2001. The Panthers reached the Division II Final Four in 2001, marking the program’s farthest advance into the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) state tournament at that time. Although DeWitt fell to the eventual state champion 1-0 in a shootout, the boys finished the year 24-3-1, and Mubarakeh was named the Lansing State Journal (LSJ) “Dream Team” Coach of the Year. His boys teams captured back-to-back Capital Area Activities Conference (CAAC) Gold Cup Championships in 2010 and 2011. The success of his boys teams was impressive, but the steady rise and ultimate dominance of his girls program was astounding. During his 25-year tenure, the Panthers won 20 league championships, 16 district titles and five regional championships. His girls advanced to the MHSAA Division II state semi-finals in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2018. All five of those teams would lose by one goal, and three of them lost to the eventual state champion. His teams won six CAAC Gold Cup Championships, including four in a row. He retired with a career record of 412-104-39. He is one of only three coaches in the state with more than 400 victories in girls soccer. He received countless coaching honors during his career, including LSJ “Dream Team” Coach of the Year six times. He retired from coaching at the conclusion of the 2021 season.
