OCTOBER INSIDE THE CLUB
Give a brief description of your club.
Junior Civitans is a youth service club dedicated to making the world a better place. This club focuses on service, with special attention paid to children with disabilities.
Who is the president or a good spokesperson for this club?
Brianna Bowen and Cindy Islas Figueroa are the co-presidents of the club.
What are your goals this year for the club?
Our goals this year for the club are to practice and promote good citizenship in the home, school, and community, to serve the community and nation authentically in as many ways as possible, to develop leadership through unselfish service, and to make the world a better place.Â
How do you think this club will affect/push the students in the future?
This club with allow students to develop lifelong skills like character development, community involvement, taking initiative, and collaboration. For some, it will also show them that service can be fun, and for others, it will initiate their passion to serve, and for others, it will propel them towards leadership.
What skills will this club give to the students?
This club will teach students to lead meaningful service projects, build leadership and citizenship skills, create positive change in the community, commitment, organization, and soft skills.
What do you hope your members will get out of this club?
We hope they gain a passion to serve others that lasts a lifetime, and the ability to carry out the WYWLA principles of "Lead, Learn, and Serve" by helping students to develop initiative and leadership, and encouraging these students to live fuller lives by unselfish service to others.
