Spotlight on Students is a feature that showcases WYWLA students
and cool experiences they've had and/or recognitions received.
WYWLA 8th grader Brooklyn Delgado
is our Spotlight on Students
recipient for April!
Brooklyn has been doing horseback riding since she was 6 years old. She started horseback riding because she visited the State Fair and saw the shows being held near it. After seeing this she told her parents that she wanted to ride, and has been ever since. She really enjoys riding despite the hard work that it takes her. Recently, she won 3rd place in North Carolina for the North Carolina Hunter Jumper Association (NCHJA) awards. She won her award as a jumper, trying to complete her course as fast as possible while incurring as little faults as possible. Previously, last year, she was 1st in the US as a hunter. As a hunter she aimed to have the best technique as she finished the course. Competitions are scored through who has the most cumulative points by the end of the year. At the end of the year everyone is invited to banquets to receive their awards and have dinner.
