Better Together is a feature that showcases students who make each better through leadership practices.
Parthavi Joshi and Iman Nazir
are our Better Together pair this month.
Here is their story!
Iman and I met in 6th grade, but we didn't become friends until high school. I think that our friendship is special because we have an innate connection, fed by Iman's endless winks and antics. She is the only one who understands our Desi humor and experience and I'm so lucky I have her to share that with. She lifts me by being like sunshine through the clouds. She's honest and real, bringing a refreshing perspective on life. Iman is always a smiling face and says the most out-of-pocket things sometimes. She's always full of humor, kindness, and courage. I am incredibly lucky to have such an amazing friend. We do Mock Trial and Performing Arts, and she is a vital glue to our team.
-Parthavi Joshi
Parthavi and I first met in 6th grade, but we really started to get closer in 9th grade. I find our friendship special because of our shared cultural experiences. I am Pakistani and Parthavi is Indian, so there are many aspects of Desi culture we are able to bond over. Our friendship lifts me up at school because we are able to keep each other accountable for work that needs to be done while still enjoying our time together. Outside of school, we participate in clubs like Mock Trial together where we are able to utilize our chemistry and teamwork to create a better case. I think we lift each other up because of how our personalities balance each other. Where one person has a weakness, the other has a strength to keep us both on top of things. My favorite thing about Parthavi is how caring of a person she is. Aside from being so smart and talented, she is such an empathetic person who is always able to endure any and all of my antics.
