Better Together is a feature that showcases students who make each better through leadership practices.
Brianna Miller and Stacy Nyaga
are our Better Together pair this month.
Here is their story!
Stacy and I first met each other in our freshman year spanish class with Mr. di Carlo. He offered anyone in the class extra credit if we made videos of ourselves singing the songs that helped us learned the current chapter's topic. I was not planning on taking up this opportunity untill I received a text from none other than Stacy Nyaga. She proposed we take our own spin on this extra credit assignment by turning these solos, into duets. We’ve been in a harmonious friendship ever since. Stacy has been my rock in and outside of the classroom. She pushes me to excel in all of my classes, especially AP Stats, by not only encouraging me, but also by being the world’s greatest tutor. She is my biggest cheerleader at whatever sporting event I throw at her. She may not know the rules of tennis or flagfootball, but she will be in the stands believing I can win more than anyone. Partially because she can’t tell when I score or if i’m losing, but also because she truly believes in me. These 4 years of high school have been filled with many ups and downs. High notes and low notes if you will. But I am forever thankful that I had Stacy Nyaga as the better half of my musical duo to sing me through it with.
-Brianna Miller
I met Brianna during our online Spanish 2 class freshman year. Mr. di Carlo offered to give extra credit to students who made videos to the class Spanish songs, and I asked Brianna if she wanted to pair up. The rest was history. We bonded over both being new to the school, and when we both went back in person, we had more time to hang out. We usually like to get lunch together and study together at school. Our favorite thing to do outside school is go on Panera Bread study dates before big tests. I've never been really good at talking to people and most times like to stick to myself. But with Brianna, conversation is always easy. She’s a star in every room she walks in and has always made my life brighter. I am always laughing in her presence, and she inspires me to be a better person. We push each other to our fullest potential and are each other’s biggest cheerleaders, whether at sports games or during a math test. I am so glad I found the courage to ask her to pair up for that first video because I met my best friend. And a sister for life.
