Conserve to Serve is a new feature sponsored by WYWLA's Green Team.
It will offer insights to ways we can conserve and be better stewards of our planet!
On March 28th the Inaugural Her World Conference took place! This student conference on the environment aimed to be fun, informative, and inspiring! Below is a recap of the event.
Guest Speakers
Students heard from engaging guest speakers on issues ranging from waste reduction, to mass extinctions, to being green. We were so excited to welcome Ms. Leigh Williams, Ms. Alexandria Trifaro, Ms. Abigail Lewis, and Ms. Katie Levin as our amazing speakers for the day!
Hands-on Activities
When not learning from expert guest speakers, students were painting rocks to beautify our campus, designing environmentally themed buttons, and playing games that demonstrated the impact of overfishing on our oceans. Each of these activities were led by incredible WYWLA students and they provided an outlet for creativity and connection.
Student Led Talent Show
To end the exciting day there was a student led talent show. This show featured a student covering Marvin Gaye's Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology), an original spoken word titled "Make it Stop", and a fashion show featuring secondhand-sustainable clothing. This show featured the talent of our WYWLA community while encouraging climate friendly practices.
