OCTOBER FIRST GENERATION
How would you describe yourself as a middle school student? How are you different now that you are in high school?
In middle school I was a very hard-working student. I feel more mature and driven to being my very best now in high school.
Do you feel added pressure /responsibility being the first in your family to attend/ graduate from college? Explain?
No, I don't feel added pressure in being the first in my family to go to college. I know it'll be a great achievement and accomplishment when I go and when I graduate from college...for me- and for my family!
Tell us about your favorite class?
I am really enjoying math right now. Mrs. Benson does a great job of answering my questions and making sense of the material covered. The projects we do are fun!
What do you like best about WYWLA?
I like having the opportunity to take college classes while in high school. I like that we take challenging courses. As students, we get to know our peers better because of the small environment. Lastly, teachers and staff get to know you well and they help and support you to do your best.
When you face obstacle or challenges, how do you overcome them?
I overcome them by asking for and seeking help. I also ask myself what my mother would do!
Have you given thought to a college major? A career path?
I would like to pursue something in the medical field. I'm still unsure about what career I'd like to pursue so I will continue to explore different paths.
Who are some of the people who have championed you throughout your life? Who inspires you to achieve/soar?
My parents champion me. They inspire me through their hard work. Seeing them work hard to achieve and get what they want motivates me.
What piece of advice do you have to WYWLA students who will be the first in their family to attend/graduate from college?
Always believe in yourself no matter what! You are strong enough to overcome anything.
