Sofia Avendano Martinez was asked about her Mitski concert experience.
Here is her story!
How long have you been a Mitski fan?
I’ve been a Mitski fan since around 2020, (around 3 or 4 years) when I first heard one of her songs (aka Francis Forever) it’s really great
What is so appealing about Mitski and his music?
I love the way her songs flow and the emotion that she puts into her lyrics and into singing the song itself. She is able to convey being human through her songs and I love that about her music.
What is your favorite song by her? Did she play it in the concert?
I like a lot of her songs, but I really really like Heaven from her most recent album. She did play it in her concert and it was so amazing I was flabbergasted. My eyes were wide open seeing her perform it. It was just so good.
When did you go see Mitski?
I went on February 3rd.
How did you get ready for the concert?
I spent some time during the day doing my hair the best I could and putting on clothes I never get the chance to wear, and then went to meet up with my friend at her house and went to the concert with her and another friend.
How was the concert experience? What was the crowd like? How is a Mitski concert different from someone else's? Favorite parts?
The concert was literally life changing and mind boggling. I was in shock throughout the entire thing. The light effects were so good combined with Mitski’s amazing performance on stage. The crowd was mostly silent during her singing and was very respectful, but everyone was super super loud when another song began playing. I would say Mitski concerts aren’t as loud as other concerts may be because of the style of her music in comparison to artists who make music with faster rhythms and different genres. Some of my favorite parts included when Mitski used the lights in her performance and was just being herself. I really liked when she performed Heaven and used a light as her dancing partner, and when a single light would focus on only her in a dark room. It was so wow.
