Conserve to Serve is a new feature sponsored by WYWLA's Green Team.
It will offer insights to ways we can conserve and be better stewards of our planet!
AT WYWLA:
The Green Team is so excited to announce the approval for the Her World conference this March 28th! Students will hear from expert guest speakers, engage in fun activities, and discuss climate related issues in the context of today.
IN THE COMMUNITY:
Would you eat sea food grown in a lab? This is what NC start up company Atlantic Fish Company is aiming to do. To grow fish in a lab, fish stem cells are isolated, and used to grow parts of the fish able to be eaten. This method, like other lab based food solutions is seen as a low carbon footprint, and ethical alternative to the current fishing industry. This company, funded by NC Biotechnology Center hopes to have its first lab grown fish tasting this spring- would you try it?

WHAT CAN YOU DO?:
Did you know that 30% of U.S adults have travel plans over the spring break period? This means increased carbon emissions, increased littering of vacation sites, and increased consumerism. While spring break travel plans can be damaging for the environment there are ways to mitigate them! Some ideas include:
When traveling, use public transportation instead of renting a car/ubering
Plan eco-friendly activities such as a walk in the park or create crafts with recyclable materials
Participate in a local park clean up
