Spotlight on Students is a feature that showcases WYWLA students
and cool experiences they've had and/or recognitions received.
WYWLA junior Lena Klayman
is our Spotlight on Students
recipient for January!
This year Lena Klayman was selected as WYWLA’s Spotlight on Student award recipient. Every year each WCPSS school selects one student to honor at an event with the superintendent and school board. Lena has an incredible passion for learning, and she brings joy to all with her enthusiasm and initiative to serve her school and community. Lena is one of WYWLA’s top student leaders. Most notably, Lena is the founder and president of the Green School Initiative, a club that meets with the goal to certify WYWLA as a NC EnviroSmart School of Commitment. Lena also leads in Student Government, Newspaper, Yearbook, and National Honor Society. In her community, Lena volunteers at her local library, in the Cary Teen Council and in her synagogue. Lena has also received numerous academic and service awards. Lena’s teachers admire her for her bright and joyful spirit, intelligence, grit, and drive to lead and serve. Lena is a finalist to attend the prestigious North Carolina Governor’s School for English. We are excited to see what senior year and beyond brings for Lena!
