Matthew 11:29 (KJV)
Meek and Lowly of Heart
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 5:5
The Meek Are Blessed
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Psalm 37:11 (KJV)
The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
Jesus uses the word meek to describe Himself…When we think of meekness I think of someone who is weak, or has a tendency to be weak, and not strong…But Jesus is anything but weak…The meek shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace...This tells us that God is very gentile, comforting and supporting those who are meek, and in need of help…God who shows no favoritism wants us to be completely aware that He wants all His children taken care of strong or weak...He want to make sure we are reminded never to take advantage of the meek, for He to has this characteristic of meekness and is lowly of heart...
Jesus does not lie…So when He tells us about Himself, we must believe Him…He is meek and lowly of heart…He tells us His yoke is easy and His burden is light…He is Divine…Jesus is not full of pride and arrogance…As you read through the gospels you never get an inkling of arrogance about Jesus in the four gospels (or any of the books of the New Testament)…You can tell by reading the gospels, He was never seeking any fame or fortune…Fame met little to Him and money personally meant even less to Him…The crowds that followed Him seem to be poor and those in need of Him (but this is only a guess)…
How could the Man who can do anything and everything, not be arrogant, and not be seeking money or fame?...How can He be meek and lowly of heart?…Jesus had such great healing powers…He healed many, many people…He also was able to raise people from the dead (and did it in all four gospels)…He had the greatest of (any man ever) healing powers, and the ability to bring people back from the dead, shows His glory…Where could He possible have learned to do these things?...Who taught Him?...Who taught Him was His Father...And it shows us He is Divine…And as people watched, during these great and grand times of His time healing and bringing people back after they had passed away, they seem almost (to me at least) expectant of Him…He is doing something that for some strange reason seems almost (and I use the word almost, because He is from above, and I do not quite understand these things) natural for Him…Yes, these miracles seem just natural for Him...He is therefore doing something expected of Him, and something that is natural for Him…He takes a patience, quiet, low-key approach to bringing back someone from the dead…Now without question, in the way that He did it, makes one Divine…But if you were asking an unbeliever today, about bringing someone back to life, CPR, and today’s great doctors would be brought up…But if we talk about Lazarus, the brother of Martha and Mary, and a friend of His -t was an extraordinary miracle…He did not bring him back to life until four days after his death…The dead Lazarus had an odor about his dead body (John 11:39)…We do not have a CPR technique or a great doctor, who can quietly and naturally bring someone back from the dead after four days two thousand years later, with all our advancements in medicine…
How can a meek Man, quietly and naturally do these things?…Because He and the Father are one…There have been kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, political leaders, heads of states, wise men, great mathematicians, great inventors, great scientists, and many other great men to walk the earth…But we have never had One like Him do what He did on earth, and say the things He said on earth –and be remembered in the way He is remembered…This One meek and lowly of heart is still making controversy today, just like He said He would…His teachings are still around with us today, just like He said they would be…With all that He did say and do, there are still people who say, how can this be God?...I would ask, how can this not be God?…
