Matthew 5:17
Jesus Fulfills the Law of Moses
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
Galatians 2:15-16
Justified by Faith
15 “We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles 16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.
Ephesians 2:8-10
Saved by Grace
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Their used to be a time when the Law of Moses meant so much about faith and being close to God...Jesus came and He fulfilled the Law of Moses...No other man could fulfill the rules and regulations in the Law of Moses until Him...He was Divinely Disciplined by His Father...Jesus by coming to earth and teaching us, shows us the Way...He is the one we are to have faith in, so we maybe justified...But our faith cannot be hollow...I cannot just go to church and read the Bible and believe in Him and never say a kind word about my neighbor...This is a kind and type of hollow faith...All of the Law of Moses and even what the prophets teach us is buried in Loving God and in Loving our neighbor...
So after Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament Law, He started teaching us more about it in a way we could better understand it...
Now that Jesus has lived, died and died for our sins, and then was resurrected by His Father, we are not justified and saved by following the Law of Moses...We are saved by having faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God...We are justified by our faith and we are saved by grace...God's grace is one of the greatest gifts we receive from Him...
