Matthew 13:24-30
The Parable of the Weeds
24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’
28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.
“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’
29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”
Matthew 5:43-48
God Sends Rain on the Righteous and Unrighteous
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Seeds to grow good things are good, and weeds not so good around good seeds...My brother tells me that we plant seeds in our actions and what we say and that seed may someday may help strengthen one's faith or help in their faith somehow...Somehow, over time the unbeliever may eventually believe...This takes time and patience...I believe that he is right, and that we want to plant good seeds for all the children of our Father...
When it comes to seeds and weeds, Jesus teaches us about planting and sowing good seeds...Jesus teaches us that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seeds in his field…But the good man’s enemy came and planted weeds among his good seeds of wheat and then he left…His enemy planted in the good seeds some bad and harmful weeds around the good man's wheat...So when the wheat sprouted and formed heads, the weeds also appeared around the good growth of the wheat…
The weeds cannot be pulled up as both the wheat and weeds are growing…One must show patience as the weeds and good seeds are growing together...By pulling up the weeds, at the wrong time, the wheat may be uprooted…The owner of the field told those watching over the fields to wait until harvest and then to first collect the weeds and tie them in bundles…Then the harvesters could pull the fully grown wheat up and do no harm to the wheat crop…
Believers are among unbelievers all the time in our world….The unbeliever may put an obstacle in the believer’s way to cause doubt and bring him issues…We might call weeds an obstacle...The one with patience can work through their obstacles and grow their faith…The growth of the wheat and the weeds both grow subtly…Faith, like the good seeds, can persist and grow…God sends rain to the sower of both the believer and the unbeliever…God will help those with faith to grow and mature…And although both, the weed’s growth and good seed’s amazing growth is the result of God’s divine power, faith takes persistence, and will face obstacles from time to time…Maybe the one who planted the weeds, sees things differently now...And the subtlety of God’s power is often hidden in and around these obstacles...And because of the very slowness and gradualness and in the quietness of everyday life, we might not see the obstacle…We may not see what our faithful seeds are doing...Faith needs this persistence, this patience, and nurturing of the rain and time…God’s LOVE is a patient LOVE and is shown is the growth of our faith…
