John 11:35-36
Jesus Wept
35 Jesus wept. 36 Then the Jews said, "See how he loved him!"
Luke 19:41-44
Jesus Wept
41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”
Matthew 5:4
Blessed are Those Who Mourn
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Jesus shows us that it is okay to cry and to weep -and to mourn...These are verses that show us that Jesus wept...In the Gospel According to John and the Gospel According to Luke, Jesus wept...Jesus wept at the death of His friend Lazarus and He also wept on the day of His Triumphal Entry to Jerusalem -over the people of Israel, knowing that the city and His Father's Temple would be destroyed in a few years...When you are sad you weep...
Weeping can be good for you...I have been told that weeping and crying is therapeutic...Weeping is actually good for your health...Crying or weeping is good for one in times of mourning, grief, sadness, deep sorrow, or distress...It helps the mind and body to weep and get out the feelings of this mournfulness, grief, sadness, or distress...Jesus cried in the presence of Martha and Mary about the death of their brother Lazarus...Jesus lost His friend Lazarus...And it appears Jesus also seemed to feel the pain of the two sisters for the loss of their brother...The loss of a loved one does bring us tears...Weeping gets one's feelings out to help you move on in life...
Weeping also helps us with our stress levels, and actually lowers them...So weeping is good for stress...That is one of the reasons why Jesus, our LORD and Savior was not afraid or ashamed to weep when He came to earth...He teaches us many things...
Jesus also teaches us that when we do mourn we will be blessed...And after we mourn and have times of deep regret, or weep -we will be comforted, when He is in our hearts...He wants us to be happy and comforted in His arms...
And weeping and crying can be a form of communication...When we are babies, we cry to communicate to our parents that we need something...A very tuned in parent many times know why their baby is crying and can remedy their weeping because of their self awareness instincts and being in tune with their baby...When Jesus wept at the death of His friend, the people around Him, saw He was communicating the Love He had for Lazarus...I think too, He is show His Love for Martha and Mary and is feeling and sharing their pain too...
Weeping once in a while, shows us that we are human...And Jesus was God in the flesh...Jesus' weeping shows us that God is near us when we mourn...God understands tears...Our weeping, mourning, deep regret are times for our LORD -we want His comfort...He is not separating and detaching from us when we mourn and weep...No, it is just the opposite -He says we are blessed when we mourn and have those feelings of weeping...
