Matthew 5:13-16
Salt and Light
13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Tasteless salt is useless...A lamp's light hidden is useless... God's word and truth are everything...
Jesus is talking to His disciples and followers...Sometimes as followers of Christ, we are apathetic...Our concerns are on our jobs or the daily things we do and are (to us) more pressing issues...Do followers of Christ follow, pray, and use the Son and the Father effectively in their daily lives?...Look around at what you see, not to judge, but to see, are the people using their faith effectively...
Jesus tells us we can be the light of this world...It is good when what we do is in honor of the Father, and not for ourselves...
Jesus teachings are to be followed...We know this is not easy... Jesus tells us the road is narrow...And since we are the salt of the earth, we are to share Jesus and God to others...
What good is salt that has no taste?...What good is a light, that one cannot see?...What good is a follower of the Son, who does nothing to honor the Father or Son?...What good would it do to have all the wisdom in the world and not use it, for the good... We who follow Christ, and do nothing to show His honor are like the salt, with no flavor, and like a burnt out light...
Jesus teaches us that using the right amount of things such as salt are very important...Salt is not the strongest of all spices, if used properly, it is hardly even noticed...But salt is a basic ingredient in many dishes...Soup, certain juices, and foods are bland and tasteless without some salt...Too much salt can be harmful, especially if one is sensitive to salt...Though many times you cannot see the ingredient, the right amount of salt gives the flavor of a dish its full potential...
Jesus tells us that we are to let our lights shine before others... The way we act and our deeds, and the believer's character are important...True followers show kindness to all neighbors, friends and enemies...True followers learn forgiveness...True followers love the LORD with all the heart, with all their soul, and with all their minds...
Salt helps the flavour of food and brings out its true potential taste...The light helps us see in the dark...We are to help others...Jesus teaches us to do good not for social reasons, but for God and His glory...Jesus brings out our full potential...
What we pray for daily, and is in our soul, and spirit are between God and us...What we do daily in life, our passion and being with others is seen by others, who are either believers, nonbelievers, or have no belief at all...Let the light be put on the highest stand and seen by everyone...
Live life full of taste and light...Live your life full of passion, zest, and zeal...
What you do everyday is seen by the LORD and everyone...Be strong, yet humble like Him...Do what you do for the glory of God...Share God...
