Mark 10:18
Only God is Good
18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone."
Matthew 5:48
Be Perfect as God is Perfect
48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Matthew 18:21-22
Jesus Teaches About Forgiveness
21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?" 22 Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."
2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus Did Not Sin
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Matthew 24:35
Jesus' Words Will Never Pass Away
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
John 1:1-18
The Word Becomes Flesh
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”)16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
Mark 14:60-62
Jesus Says He is the Son of God
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Imaging believing in a God, and then believing that He came to earth to dwell among us and teach us...Imagine that He has no flaws, no faults, no sins whatsoever...He was and is full of grace, truth, and forgiveness...And by being this way, a way I might call Perfect Goodness, He can easily see our lost and forsaken condition in each one of us...Yet, He looked and looks for and finds goodness in everyone...We know this because He teaches forgiveness...It is good to know there are past events and stories and gospels of such a Man, who did these very things...He knows where to look goodness in each of us...
Yet, much and many of the world missed Him...Imagine being on earth and living and being near His ministry and not recognizing Him...Wouldn't that be sad, to have missed the One who created all things?...The true Light that gives Light to everyone came into the world...He dwelt among us...He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him...He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive Him...
The best trained men of His time had to ask Him, if He was the Son of God, the Son of the Blessed One...This is because they could not see Him and who He was...We too, can go through life missing things...The Sanhedrin, the group trained best to know God, passed over the Gift, the Grace, and the Truth in front of them...An assembly of many men educated to know God, could not see Him...
And while we can miss things throughout our lives, with His Perfect Goodness, He missed nothing...Nothing around Him was missed...No one gets overlooked by Him...The fringe of society, the very poor, the outcast -nothing that happens, while He walks the earth gets missed by Him...He lovingly and compassionately sees each of us for what we are and loves us...He is the Light, a Certain Light that illuminates the world in goodness and in LOVE...His Goodness, His Grace, His Truth has persevered the world and His teachings will never pass...
