Matthew 6:34
Troubles Will Come
34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 5:3
Poor in Spirit
3"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
John 16:30-33
Jesus Knows Before We Ask
30Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God."
31"You believe at last!" Jesus answered. 32"But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
33"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Psalm 37:5-7
Trust in the LORD and Wait Patiently for Him
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him.
When a child of has a major problem, a father or mother and the family want to help...When this does happen the parents thoughts are fixated on their child...You say a prayer for them...You want to help and think what you can do (to help them)...Many times a parent drops everything they have going on, and go to their child in trouble...They want to be there in the child's time of need...The parent wants to take care of them...They might call a brother or other family member, and tell them the situation and ask them for a prayer for the troubled one...The parent or sibling might go to their home or where they are...When you get there, you immediately feel their pain, and their grief....You see that they are numb, they have a problem feeling their regular feelings, they are very much not their normal self...A suffering child, when they are in trouble, is poor in spirit...You are there to help, and depending on their problem and their grief, you are there to help and for support...Sometimes there is not much, if anything you can say...Sometimes words and dialog just aren't enough when your child has a tragic problem of pain...But the parent being there, and even saying nothing, is very much needed and good...Would the good parent think of not being there for their child?...The answer is absolutely not...The parent wants to be there for his child...
In the great story of suffering in the Bible is the Book of Job...Job suffered throughout the chapters and is looking for God's help...Three friends are there for Job...The first seven days they are there for support and say nothing (Job 2:13)... Job no doubt appreciated this and there being there...Then all three begin to speak, and the dialog begins throughout the story...After the friends start to talk, things seem to go down hill as word after word is said by the three friends and Job throughout his suffering...The many words of Job and his friends do not help Job with his problem of pain...Then God comes...And in the end, Job understands...He sees that God understands all things...God created the universe...God knows what He is doing with everything, even our troubled times, or more importantly -especially our troubled times...
God understands pain and suffering...God is very much like the parent...Jesus calls Him, Father...Their is a reason for this...He created us, He is our Father...Our Father wants to help...God sent His Son for us, to help in these situations...God is like the Father, and Jesus our brother...He gives us the Holy Spirit...The Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are there with us...The Trinity is a mystery, but the three parts of God are at work for us...Jesus tells us when we are troubled, do not let your hearts be troubled, trust in God, but trust also in Me (John 14:1)...Jesus and the Father are One (John 10:30)...When we know Jesus, we also know His Father (John 14:7)...They together in a union, but also are two distinct entities...The Trinity, is fixated on us, when we have problems...It listens not only to the prayers of the suffering, but to the others praying for those suffering...Jesus feels our numbness...He feels and completely understands how we feel...He was tortured and died on a cross for us...He knows that we are not feeling like our normal self...He is there...Like the parent, do you think, He wants to be somewhere else?...Absolutely not, He loves you...His Father sent Him...No one gets to the Father except through Him (John 14:6)...The Father and Son are there...He knows that words sometimes are not enough in the most troubling of times...The Holy Spirit and Jesus are working in us, even though we sometimes can't feel it through all the numbness, when we are poor in spirit...The Holy Spirit is God living in our soul...We are the Holy Spirit's house...God is the Good Father helping us, because He is in us...Jesus is like the Brother helping, in the maximum of ways...All three parts of the Trinity working in us and for us, feeling our pain...
In these verses above, Jesus tells us everyday we live will have some problem of its own...When we are in trouble and have problems, we can be poor in spirit, but we are blessed...Jesus knows all things even before we ask...He is aware of our problems...He understands how we feel...He knows at the times when we are poor in spirit...He wants to be and is there in our time of need and troubles...Those praying to Him and the Father and have committed to the LORD in our times of trouble, will be and are blessed...Jesus is there...In this world when problems come, if we look to Him and pray, He will help us absolutely...He cares...He wants to take care of us...Trust in Him and wait patiently for Him...Being patient is sometimes difficult...But Jesus and His Father are there, in our trials...We should remember in our trials, and when we are poor in Spirit, to trust in Him...We in His trust can try to feel a little better, try to gain some strength, try to take heart, because He has overcome this world...He lived two thousand years ago, and still lives today...He lives in us, because He is called Immanuel, which means God with us (Matthew 1:23)...The words we know sometimes are not enough when we are troubled, as St. Paul tells us...In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and trials...We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Holy Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express (Romans 8:26)...
