Job 42:1-9
Epilogue
1 Then Job replied to the Lord:
2 “I know that you can do all things;
no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.
4 “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.’
5 My ears had heard of you
but now my eyes have seen you.
6 Therefore I despise myself
and repent in dust and ashes.”
7 After the Lord had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has. 8 So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.” 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer.
Job 7:21
Job Had Sinned, and Ask for Forgiveness
21 Why do you not pardon my offenses
and forgive my sins?
For I will soon lie down in the dust;
you will search for me, but I will be no more.”
Matthew 5:43-48
On Loving Your Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
God told Job and his friends that Job had indeed spoken the truth about Him...So God said Job was right...And God adds that Job's friends had not spoken the truth about Him...So Job was right about this situation...
Job had lost his children, his wealth, and then his health and he could not explain why he suffered with these things...Job's argument that he did not believe that he was suffering because of a particular sin or sins that he had done was right...And Job questioned God, and his friends about why these tragedies had happened in his life...Job's friends kept telling Job that he was suffering because of his sins...Job had sinned, but in this case a sin was not what caused Job to suffer...Sometimes suffering is not because of a sin, and we learn that in the epilogue of the Book of Job...
We learn, by God saying Job was right, that bad things happen to good people and that good things happen to bad people...God wants us to endure and persevere...And Job did...
Sometimes we speak of things we did not understand, things that are too wonderful us to know...God does allow troubles and pain and suffering in our lives...God does allow pain and suffering to happen to good people...And Job did not sin (although Job was not sinless) to cause these things to happen to him...God allowed the evil one to come into Job's life, and then the troubles started happening to Job...God causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous...Why is this?...God is in control of all things, and knows all things...God is Perfect in His decision making process, and He knows how everything will turn out in the beginning and the end...And because of God's Eternal Wisdom, He remains a Great Mystery to us...
