Matthew 5:22
But I Tell You
22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
Matthew 5:28
But I Tell You
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matthew 5:32
But I Tell You
32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Matthew 5:39
But I Tell You
39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.
Matthew 5:44-48
But I Tell You
44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Revelation 5:1-14
The Scroll and the Lamb
1 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.”
11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”
14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
When I read Jesus' "But I tell you" statements, I see my imperfections...Who has the right to say my angry is subject to judgment?...Who has the right to say, when have looked at another woman lustfully, then I have committed adultery?...Who can tell me when someone hits, or slaps, or insults me, I am to turn the other cheek -just to be hit again?...The Only One who could or can do and say these things are a Man that is perfectly moral...Jesus has the right to ask me those questions...However, I certainly cannot do these things He asks, I need help, much help...
Jesus' expectations are tremendous for us...Only He sees our true potential...He wants us to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect...But we are not...I understand, why St. John weeps and weeps as the Mighty Angel asks who is worthy to break the seal and open the Sacred and Holy Scroll...The Sacred and Holy Scroll hold the mysteries of God...The very answers to the questions He has ask Job, are in these Great Scrolls...But who is worthy to open such a book?...Can anyone just break the Scroll's holy seal?...Can any man open these Great and Holy Scrolls?...Is there even One Righteous Man among us, that can read This Great Book and or even just look at The Words...Who can give us the very Word of Life?...Who can give us the Truth about Life?...Who can give us the Wisdom of God?...We need help...With these things we need help...There is an answer and One who can help...He is the Innocent Lamb that was slaughtered on a cross...Jesus has the right to open the Holy Scroll to the answers to the secrets of life...He is our Hope of Hopes...
God, and the Father of the Beloved Son, has given His Blessed Son the right not only to open the Book, the Sacred Wisdom, but He can read these great things to us...The Author of Eternal Salvation is Worthy, He is the Perfection we seek...He is our help...The Anointed One is our Only Connection to His Father...This is why Christ the Lamb can read the Scrolls...This is why Divine Son died on the cross for us, to bring us close to His Father...This is why we should honor, glory, and praise His power...This is why we too, should fall on our knees, and worship Him...
He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life...He is the Only One who can get us to the Father...Because we know Him, we can now see His Father (John 14:6-7)...We can now hear His Father's Great Wisdom...
