John 14:6
Jesus and Truth
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 18:28-39
Pilate's Truth
28 Then the Jews led Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness the Jews did not enter the palace; they wanted to be able to eat the Passover. 29 So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?”
30 “If he were not a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed him over to you.”
31 Pilate said, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.”
“But we have no right to execute anyone,” the Jews objected. 32 This happened so that the words Jesus had spoken indicating the kind of death he was going to die would be fulfilled.
33 Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
34 “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “It was your people and your chief priests who handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him. 39 But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?"
John 8:31-32
The Truth Shall Set You Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
Matthew 5:48
God is Perfect
48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus is the Same Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Everyone has their truth, their own truth...Pilate had his truth...There are many interesting things in the conversation between Pilate and Jesus...One is that Jesus seems very calm during this entire time, He is on trial...Pilate, His judge, is the one who seems worried and agitated by Jesus' arrest...Pilate's instincts seem to be right...Pilate sees (and has now met, Jesus) and talks to Him...It appears and as the conversation unfolds we see, he is talking to an innocent Man...
When Jesus asks Pilate "is that your own idea or did others talk to you about Me?"...What a question to ask, in the position that Jesus is in...Jesus is asking Pilate, a personal question...He is seeking the truth in Pilate's heart...Does Pilate really want to know who He is and what the Truth is, or does he (Pilate) just want to more or less protect his position of authority within the Roman Empire?...I think Jesus is asking Pilate, do you really want to know the Truth, or are you asking -just to be asking...When one listens to Jesus talk about Truth, it is extraordinary...He is talking about Himself...Pilate seems to understand this, and can find no basis of guilt...And guilt for what?...When we listen to Jesus, we really are set free...It is because He is the absolute, unchanging Truth, He is the Truth...I am not sure Pilate believes or dis-believes that Jesus is the Messiah, and the King of the Jews, but he seems to wash his hands of saying He is guilty...It appears that knowing Jesus is LORD or really getting to the Truth, is not very important to Pilate...
Sometimes we must defend the Truth...TRUTH HAS TO BE IMPORTANT TO US...Truth helps us find LOVE, because God is LOVE...We should base our belief system and what we believe in on the Truth...
Jesus is Truth...Jesus is also our Salvation...He is the key to our eternal life...He is the very purpose of life...We have to acknowledge, what the Truth is...Pilate does not want to do this...Pilate wants to brush Truth aside, and get on with his life here on earth...He does not want to say, Jesus is LORD...The non-believer and skeptic (like Pilate) would say that Jesus is only the Messiah, unless the Bible is Truth...They might also say if there is a God, and He had a Son -that Son would have to be Perfect, Moral, and without Sin...I would agree with that 100% and add, He would also, always represent the Absolute and Unchanging Truth...But words are often never enough for the non-believer...The non-believer usually (if not always) wants a personal modern day type miracle that they can see and prove (to themselves) that He is out there...There is Truth and there are miracles...These are two completely different things...The non-believer can want his miracle to believe, but that does not change the unchanging Truth...
I have always looked at things in terms of baselines...Being a number's person, in my job we were constantly comparing our current outcomes, with a plan or budget...The current report that was just prepared was always the one most right...The current report had the most truths in it...Some of these comparisons were made in forecasts that extended back five years ago...The current situation had always changed a little or a lot over time, which made one or more variances each month off in the reports, because they were prepared years ago...The forecasts that were prepared five years ago were always off the most... Much changes in a five year plan...Over time, since these things have changed, our current situation has made these many variances...The longer the time period, the greater the number of variances that appeared...Our numbers were measured and compared and checked regularly...In relating this to truth, there can only be truth in this world, if there is an absolute Truth...If Truth cannot be measured or compared to Something, there is no Truth...The Truth can only be The Truth, if it never changes, no matter how long the time period...There is Someone who never changes...His name is God and He has a Son...God sent His Son to live out a life of Truth...God sent His Son to testify to His Truths...Jesus was born to a virgin, became a boy, worked as a Carpenter, became a Minister, was arrested, died on a cross, and was resurrected by His Father...What Jesus said, taught, and did in His life is the Ultimate Truth from God...It was God's Plan, and Jesus only did God's will...God and His Son co-exist within the Trinity, with the Holy Spirit...There can only be this One Truth...God is the Absolute Measure of Truth...God is my Baseline, He is my Truth...
