Matthew 5:13-16
Salt and Light
13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Jesus tell us to let our lights shine, and do not hide them under a bowl...We are the light of this world...He wants our personality, through the Holy Spirit to shine while we are on earth -so other men can see and find the Light...When we follow His teachings, we shine...He is wanting us to reflect His Light...His teachings will help everyone, and His Light will help the world...
He not only wants us to reflect His Light, but He wants us to renew our selves in His Light...When we do this, we get better and it is easier to come out from under the bowl and talk about Him...What good is a light that remains hidden...Let us remember, there is nothing enlightening or brilliant in darkness...
On earth, light and the source of light can be found in flashlights, light bulbs, candles, the moon, and the sun, for instance...But He is the Source of our light...Jesus is the Source of all light...True believers want to praise God in heaven...You are a child of God...He made us in His image...We are born to let His Light shine that comes from the Holy Spirit in us...We are meant for others to see God's Light shine from our Spirit...True belief and God's Light are hard to conceal...
You are to share God, talk about God, and let God be known to others...
