Matthew 5:27-30
Jesus on Lusting
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Job 31:1-4
Job on Lusting
1 “I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look lustfully at a young woman.
2 For what is our lot from God above,
our heritage from the Almighty on high?
3 Is it not ruin for the wicked,
disaster for those who do wrong?
4 Does he not see my ways
and count my every step?
Some say that Job is the oldest written book in the Bible...And Job knew about the sins of lust...He knew the weakness of the flesh...Job in the Old Testament said that he had made a covenant with his eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman...And it is interesting that Job says, "young woman."...Jesus teaches us to not to commit adultery...And then He goes on to say, "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."...
Desires of the flesh can lead us into many temptations...I find it interesting Job thousands of years before Jesus came to earth said these similar things on the problems of lust...
