John 10:30
Jesus and the Father are One
30 I and the Father are one.
John 14:10-31
Jesus is In the Father, and the Father is in Jesus
10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.
“Come now; let us leave.
John 8:12-20
Jesus is the Light of this World
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
13 The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”
14 Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”
19 Then they asked him, “Where is your father?”
“You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.
Matthew 5:13-16
We are the Light of this World
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 13:11-15
Seeing the Light
11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you,but not to them. 12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables:
“Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’
Jesus says that He and the Father are One...He also says that He is in the Father and the Father is in Him...This tells us that He has this special relationship with His Father...Jesus has this Duality existence with His Father...We can also see beyond the Duality, when Jesus discusses the Holy Spirit...Then we better see a Trinity existence come into being...
Jesus also says He is the Light...When I think of light, I see it and have saw light since I was very young...Light looks like something simple to me...For many years scientists thought that light was a wave...Then in 1905 Albert Einstein said that light has this duality...Light is both a wave and a particle...For me the scientific subject of light becomes very complicated...But I believe that there is light and I have no problem believing that light is a duality, being both a wave and a particle...And even though I do not understand much about light, I see it everyday, and I believe that there is such a thing as light...
The internet defines light as the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible...Visible light is electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the human eye, and is responsible for the sense of sight...
Light stimulates our sight and makes things visible for the human eye to see...Light is responsible for our sense of sight...Darkness provides no help in helping us seeing things...With darkness alone, we do not know what is going on...The Light drives out darkness so we can see many things...So if there were no Light, we would not see...
Jesus tells us that He is the Light...He is responsible for us seeing...But we are given a choice of what we see with our eyes and hear with our ears...We are given a choice to believe in Him or not believe in Him...Though seeing, some do not believe, and though hearing some do not hear...Jesus can be the Light and give us light and we may not see, if we do not believe...
C. S. Lewis said this about Jesus and God: "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."...Some things we see and some things we do not see...Everyday when the sun comes out, I know that it has risen...Even on cloudy days I believe that the sun has come up and is behind those gray clouds...I cannot see the sun on those cloudy days, but I know that it is there...I believe that the sun exists on cloudy days...I have faith that the sun has come up each and everyday...And like the deep scientific definition of what light is in that it is a both a wave and a particle, I believe this as a scientific truth...I do not understand how light works, but that does not keep me from believing in light...I do not understand how Jesus and His Father exist or how they came into being or existence...But I also do not know when light came into existence or how it works...
Believing in God and His Son is more about faith, than it is about understanding...Like Lewis, Jesus helps me see other things, it helps me see the Light...
