Chapter 7: The Deal

The shadows under Yggdrasil are dark and dangerous, but two new blessed Rukaan are on hand to light the way, Castor S-026 and Pollux S-027.

Attempts to speak with the Serpent are ignored, and attempts to fight it only cause it to thrash against Yggdrasil’s torn flesh in anger, worsening the damage.

By now the Winter Doe has caught up with you, and you feel the true force of her power as she freezes the Serpent in a wall of ice between the great roots. “This won’t hold him long,” she tells you, “and it is doing Yggdrasil’s health no favors. But go, while you can, and keep trying.” It won’t hold him forever, but perhaps long enough to find a way to stop this conflict.

You and the Stag of the West begin the long climb back up. It isn’t long before you see Ratatoskr the great Squirrel flitting between the branches just out of reach, taunting you.

Ratatoskr is the one who has been stirring up the Eagle and the Serpent, you recall. Is he inspiring them to destroy the world out of boredom? Or simply to see the chaos that would follow?

“You seem to have too much time on your paws, Squirrel.” challenges the Stag of the West. “Perhaps if we gave you something better to do, would you leave these two in peace rather than spend your days inflaming their anger with insults and lies?”

The Squirrel seems to consider with far too much intelligence lurking in those beady eyes. He may not be so monstrously large or intimidating as the others, but he is eternal and far from harmless.

“Perhaps, perhaps. But you’d have to give me something to make it worth my while.”

Entry Requirements:

• 800 Word Story or Fullbody Colored with Complex Background

• The Stag of the West and Ratatoskr must be pictured at least 50% or significantly involved in the story

• Tame Rukaan' handlers may be included but are not required

• Entries must be made entirely by the Rukaan's owner

• The entering Rukaan and/or their handler must be suggesting a task to Ratatoskr. Task must be spelled out in the story for literature entries or artist’s description in art entries. (He doesn’t need to be completing the task, proposing it to him is enough.)

You must also show a roll result comment showing proof of ONE of the following for the entering Rukaan:

• You know how to intimidate Ratatoskr (Provide a successful battle result against Ratatoskr battle boss)

• You have something Ratatoskr can’t resist (Provide a quest or exploration result with a Fruit of Yggdrasil item drop)

• You can get your hooves on something Ratatoskr will find tempting (Provide a quest or exploration result with a Wild Strawberry item drop timestamped after the Rukaan’s Chapter 6 entry journal comment)

- Items do not have to be in your bank and will not be taken from your vault.

- Result comments must be from the Rukaan entering the lore storyline chapter.

- Result comments may be from before or after the Rukaan’s Chapter 7 entry rune mark roll unless otherwise noted.

Who Can Enter:

• Each Rukaan may only enter each chapter once

• One Rukaan may enter per piece, though others may be included for rune marks

• There is no deadline, the event will remain permanently open to enter

• In order to enter Lore Storyline Events, the Rukaan must have entered all previous chapters. Rukaan must have completed Chapter 6 to participate in Chapter 7.

Rune Mark Bonuses for Entries:

• All entries for this chapter get the Event rune mark bonus (link this journal) (only for the Rukaan entering the event, not for any additional Rukaan included)

• All entries for this Lore Storyline Event are eligible for the Lore rune mark bonus for featuring The Stag of the West.

• All entries for this Lore Storyline Event are eligible for the Lore Location rune mark bonus for featuring Yggdrasil.

• Rune mark bonuses must be listed in the bonus section of the rune mark form to be counted.

Reward

For completing this chapter you will receive:

• Bark of Yggdrasil

• +3 Speed and +3 Intelligence to be applied to the entering Rukaan

• Unlock Ratatoksr Battle Boss if not previous unlocked

• The ability to proceed to Chapter 8 when it is posted

Stats will be applied to the entering Rukaan. If they exceed the stat cap, the remainder will be added to your vault.
