Long ago, Rukaan were a species of elk who lived in the wilds and alongside men in the cold, harsh corners of the world. Though known for their intelligence and hardiness, they were still creatures of the earth who at the time had no innate magic of their own. Their bloodlines are still present to this day and are recognized as the Ancients.
Over time, individual Rukaan caught the eye of the gods. Some performed some great accomplishment, or served the gods, or personified some ideal and the gods wished to make an example of them. Some were given hooves or antlers in exotic shapes or made of precious materials like metal or gemstones. Others were granted new coats in shining and brilliant colors that had never before been seen. These chosen few were gifted immortality; they need not fear death while they dwell in Midgard, and may join their benefactors in Asgard when the desire strikes them.
To these Rukaans the gods taught the magic of rune carving and essence weaving. They in turn passed this knowledge to other Rukaan over time. Some chose to channel their magic from a connection with nature to a sacred bond with a handler to share their strength and benefit all races.Â
Rukaan in the world today are a melding of the descendants of the Ancients and the offspring of those blessed by the gods themselves. The world is a mysterious realm, and who is to say the gods are done handing out blessings to those who prove themselves worthy?
These Rukaans are immortal and are considered starters within the group as they have founded many of the bloodlines found in Rukaan today. See their profiles for more information on their history and blessings.
